Jávea School of Bridge and Social Club Tuition

Teaching takes place during winter months (September to April) on Tuesday afternoons, when the tuition hour is followed by supervised play with prepared hands. There are two terms, each of 12 sessions, culminating in a student tournament.

Year 1 is for beginners and those with little previous experience of the game.  Emphasis is on bidding and card play and we teach basic Acol with 4 card majors and a weak no trump opening. Lessons on Stayman, transfers, overcalls, strong twos, doubles, pre-empts and slam bidding are all included.

Year 2 covers declarer and defensive play techniques for the improving student. Lessons include jump shifts and reverse bidding, delayed game raise, losing trick count, signals and defence to Benji Acol.

Both years would include and encourage tournament experience.
